George Clooney in 'The Descendants'

The Academy usually likes to include some contemporary 'slice of life' nods, a la Kevin Spacey in 'American Beauty.' Clooney’s performance in 'The Descendants' just might be the troubled contemporary dad the Academy is looking for this year.
