'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' (1974)
The landmark slasher film about a demented cannibalistic family that picks off young friends traveling through the Texas landscape actually features very little on-screen gore. Most of the violence involving mallets, meathooks and chainsaws is left to the imagination.

The movie played for a year in the UK, then was banned until 1999. It was also not shown in Australia until 1984, nor Iceland from 1985 to 1999. Finland dropped a ban on it beginning in 1984. Additionally it was not screened in Sweden until 2001, Norway, West Germany, Brazil, Chile and Singapore.
