'It's Always Fair Weather'

Surely the only movie about veterans that's also a musical featuring Gene Kelly performing on roller skates. This is an unusually bitter song-and-dance fest, in which Kelly and two pals from the service reunite a decade after World War II, only to recognize that they have little in common but memories and disappointment over lives that have fallen short of their dreams. All is ultimately resolved through the magic of MGM musical fairy dust, yet the film remains a strong debunking of myths about wartime camaraderie.
