'Gremlins' (1984)

Who said you can't include your own movies? The fuzzy holiday gift Gizmo spawns a horde of anti-social reptilian monsters who attack an idyllic backlot town on Christmas Eve. Once described as "the Muppets on acid", this comparatively low-budget project became a "sleeper" -- one of those unheralded movies that nobody expects much of that goes on to become an inexplicable smash hit. Lucky for me.
