Back to Best Performances of 2011
11. Uggie, 'The Artist'
AP
Consider Uggie! Due respect to Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo -- the human stars of 'The Artist' who will likely get Oscar nominations come January -- but the scene-stealing Uggie the dog provides much of the heart in Michel Hazanvicius's silent film curio. Best dog performance ever? Check. Makes you want to own a Jack Russell Terrier? Check. Gives added depth to the story of a broken man coming to terms with his own limitations? Check. Uggie won't win any awards, but he's the MVP of the season: Most Valuable Pooch. GROAN, but you know it's true.
