Back to Academy Awards 2012: One Star, Two (or More) Oscar-Worthy Performances
Viola Davis in 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close'
DreamWorks
Odds for a nomination: Minimal. Davis is earning praise for her weepy role as a Brooklyn woman with marital problems, but it's a fairly small part, and most of the positive buzz surrounding the movie is going to a different supporting player, the silent Max Von Sydow. If anyone gets a nomination for this movie, it'll be the venerable Von Sydow, not the woman guaranteed a nomination for another film.
