'Jack the Giant Killer'

Not to be outdone by Snow White, Jack (of Jack and the Beanstalk fame) gets his own big-budget screen revamp in 2012. Before you scoff at the idea of magic beans being the jumping-off point for an action blockbuster, note the talent behind 'Giant Killer': director Bryan Singer ('X-Men,' 'The Usual Suspects') and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie ('The Usual Suspects'). Bonus points for including 'X-Men: First Class' scene-stealer Nicholas Hoult as the titular Jack; expect him to experience a well-deserved breakout in 2012.
