Oliver Stone assembled an all-star cast to bring Don Winslow's mostly overrated pulp crime novel 'Savages' to the big screen: Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson play a pair of SoCal drug dealers, Blake Lively is the woman they both love, Salma Hayek, Benicio Del Toro and SAG Best Actor nominee Demian Bichir are part of the drug cartel they screw over, and Uma Thurman, John Travolta and Emile Hirsch are along for the ride too. 'Savages' should be Stone's bloodiest cinematic outing since 'Natural Born Killers'; hopefully, it's not also an exercise in style over substance.
