'The Cabin in the Woods'

Fans have been waiting for this one for a while.. a real long while. It was originally set to come out in February 2010, but financial problems with MGM Studios delayed its release (Since then it's lead, Chris Hemsworth, has become the star of Marvel's 'Thor'). On the surface it might look like another schlocky slasher about dumb debaucherous teenagers being terrorized by a hulking backwoods monster. But in the hands of writer / producer Joss Whedon, it looks to subvert every horror cliche you're expecting. With a totally out-there premise involving secret control rooms, invisible force-fields and underground lairs, it could do for the slasher what 'Buffy' did for the vampire movie.
