1. Uggie in 'The Artist'

This captivating canine just might be the reason 'The Artist' wins Best Picture at the Oscars this year. You may not love the main character, George (Jean DuJardin), but you can't help loving his faithful dog, who stays with him through thick and thin. Uggie can't win an Oscar (alas!) but he's definitely won Best in Show as far as a lovestruck Hollywood is concerned.
