Variety: "With machines that are impressively more lifelike, and characters that are more and more like machines, 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' takes the franchise to a vastly superior level of artificial intelligence. As for human intelligence, it's primarily at the service of an enhanced arsenal of special effects, which helmer Michael Bay deploys like a general launching his very own shock-and-awe campaign on the senses."

The Hollywood Reporter: "'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' is a nonstop whirl of flying, battling and crashing machinery. Characters and comedy are in short supply in a plot that's basically an Indiana Jones-style search for a buried treasure, in this case a 1,000-year-old matrix that will give life back to Optimus Prime."

News of the World: "It's bigger. Badder. Boobier. And many other words beginning with B, including boneheadedly brilliant."

FHM: "It's like watching a blender for two hours while someone shouts at you. And then the last half an hour is the same, except it's more like having your head strapped to a washing machine while you watch a blender and someone shouts at you. And you really need to piss. Still, wicked fun."



Time Out London: "Michael Bay comes closer than any director in history to boiling the blockbuster down to its most basic components: PG-violence, safe sex and special effects. And while it would be hard to make a case for 'Revenge of the Fallen' as 'good' in any normal sense of the word, it possesses such brute force that the viewer is left with two options: surrender, or suffer in silence."

Empire Online: "A super-sized second helping, but the novelty factor and some of the charm's gone. Hey, at least there's more Megatron/Starscream squabbling this time round."

Urban Cinephile: "Beyond the dazzle and frazzle of the special effects, the human cast, headed by charismatic Shia LaBeouf and the drop-dead gorgeous Megan Fox, is terrific. It's about issues as diverse as saving the world, leaving home for college and saying the L word."

Digital Spy: "For better or worse, 'Fallen' fulfills expectations. It never wants to be a Ken Loach film, it's Michael Bay unwisely off the leash, all explosions, momentum and paper-thin characterization. The spectacle is impressive."

Sky Movies: "This sequel basically takes all the successful components of the first film -- great warring machines, Shia LeBeouf's indomitable teen, access-all-areas to US military hardware and, yes, Fox's breasts -- and delivers even more bangs (and boobs) for your bucks."
