Is the Deleted Scene from 'Return Of The Jedi' a Fake? (VIDEO)

Can you hear that distant rumbling in a galaxy far far away? That's the Star Wars Universe getting its Lucasfilm Approved Merchandise knickers in a twist about an apparently 'deleted' scene from 1983's Return Of The Jedi: is it real or fake? And whose cleft chin is that, exactly?

As we reported yesterday, attendees at the recent Star Wars Celebration V in Florida were treated to a screening of the brief scene during a Q&A with Mark Hamill (who played Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy) and George Lucas. The clip, which shows Vader in a lift telepathically calling for Luke to turn to the dark side and then Luke in a Tatooine cave fixing up his new lightsaber, was wildly received by the fanboy community at large, with much whooping and frothing.

However, the worm has turned with many shouting 'Fake!' and accusing George Lucas of creating it just to hype up next year's Blu-ray release of all six Star Wars films. The cause of this is an interview with Hamill from Comic Con 2009, unearthed by GeeksOfDoom where the actor states "I never shot a scene like that."

Brigitte Bardot Fights Plans for Biopic of Her Life

She's had a life of impossible glamour but don't expect to be seeing it on the big screen any time soon. Brigitte Bardot is blocking plans for a biopic to be made about her because, quite simply, there is "no one who can do it" according to the mysterious beauty.

Plans have been afoot for the movie for a while - the project is listed on IMDb as 'Untitled Brigitte Bardot Biopic' and is being developed by Kyle Newman, writer/director of the Star Wars indie comedy 'Fanboys'. Newman is planning to put his wife, Jaime King, in the lead role.

However, the former actress/model singer/ and, for the last thirty odd years, animal rights activist has other ideas, as she told a French radio station: "A film about my life? But I'm not dead! They wouldn't dare do it without talking to me. If they do sparks will fly."

Kurt Cobain's Daughter was Offered Lead Role in Twilight Says Courtney Love

Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Hole leader/general crazy woman, Courtney Love, was apparently offered the lead role in the Twilight films, which she turned down. Tim Burton was also after her for the role of Alice in his recent Alice in Wonderland 3D movie. Not bad for a 17 year old who's never acted before.

You should, however, take those claims with a pinch of salt as they come straight from her not always reliable mother. In an interview with Daily Mail's You Magazine, Love declared: "Frances is so beautiful, but she doesn't want to be famous. She was offered the part of Bella in the Twilight movies, and Tim Burton wanted her for Alice in Wonderland. But she wants to go to college: she's very good at graphic novels. [..] Frances will be fine, it'll be fine."

Avatar Special Edition: Find Out What You'll See In Those Extra Nine Minutes

James Cameron's Avatar, officially the highest grossing film of all time, is making its way back to our cinema screens on 27 August.

According to the press release, since the film's release last December, "the number of available digital 3D screens has exploded, and moviegoers who missed experiencing the film in 3D, as well as fans that want to return to Pandora again, will now have that opportunity."

Not only that but Avatar: Special Edition has been beefed up by a whopping NINE minutes of additional footage that never made it into the original theatrical version.

Cameron recently talked MTV through those unseen extra scenes (oh, and the titles of these scenes sound like tracks from some obscure 70s prog album). Find out what he said about those extra scenes in Avatar: Special Edition after the jump...

Clint Eastwood Joins Fight to Save the UK Film Council

Oh dear, Mr Jeremy Hunt, Culture Secretary and proposed-abolisher of the UK Film Council - you've attracted the wrath of someone who really shouldn't be angered...

That's right, the latest person to show their annoyance at the decision to shut down the UKFC (brought on by massive spending cuts across the board) is legendary tough guy, actor and director Clint Eastwood.

Dirty Harry himself has penned a personal letter to the Conservative Chancellor, George Osbourne, the man who sits atop the national purse and who ultimately has the power to reverse the UKFC's abolishment (which, if it happens, will have a devastating affect on our film industry).

Eastwood wrote: I cannot stress how important the Film Council is to me. I have been following the news of its proposed abolition with great interest. The prospect of losing such a valuable resource is of great concern as we contemplate future projects.

Back to the Future Returns to UK Cinemas (VIDEO)

Good news for fans of flux capacitors and improbable physics - Back to the Future is set to return to UK cinemas. Before you panic, it won't be in the form of a remake (Hollywood hasn't become that sacreligious yet) - to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the original film will have a short theatrical run in the UK before coming out (with its two sequels) on Blu-ray.

As anyone who grew up around that time will know, Back to the Future is one of THE great 80s films. Slightly more family-orientated than some of the other teen classics from that decade (ie Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club), it's still a memorable, must-see classic a quarter of a century later.

The film follows the adventures of high school kid Marty McFly as he gets mixed up in a plot involving his friend Doc Brown's time-travelling DeLorean, stolen plutonium and angry terrorists. Marty ends up travelling back to 1955 where he must meet the young Doc Brown, try to find a way to get back to 1985 and make sure his parents still meet at the high school dance (otherwise his whole existence is in jeopardy).
