Monty Python Team Set to Reunite for New Movie

Monty Python teamBrace yourself for some old-school silliness - it would appear that there's a Monty Python reunion on the cards. Terry Jones is set to direct a film called Absolutely Anything and has reached out to his former cohorts to feature in it.

Produced by Phoenix Pictures, who are behind the forthcoming Black Swan, the film will star John Olivier (from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and Robin Williams (in the role of someone called 'Danny The Dog'). According to Jones (who wrote it) Absolutely Anything is about, "aliens, a goofy Brit, a talking dog and buckets of silliness."

To make sure it has the requred amounts of silliness, Jones has asked the surving Python crew of John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam and Eric Idle to voice the alien characters. They have only made sporadic appearances together in the last few years, most recently at a 2005 performance of the musical Spamalot.

James Cameron to Build Special Vehicle for Avatar Sequel

Prepare yourself for more blue-faced new age ponderings - this time at 36,000 feet beneath the waves.

Last month it was reported that James Cameron was planning to set the sequel to Avatar under the sea. Now, it appears that not only is he going to film at the deepest point of the Pacific Ocean, but he's building a unique vessel to do so.

Cameron has commissioned a team of engineers to build a two-seater sub with built-in 3D cameras so he can film footage for use in the sequel, due in 2014.

According to the man himself, the vessel is "half completed in Australia" and he hopes to start his journey to the depths sometime next month. It's doubtful that he'll actually take any actors down there with him although Cameron is planning to film their scenes underwater.

Nike Unveil Patent for Back to the Future Trainers

Trainer fetishists and time travel enthusiasts rejoice! According to NiceKicks.com, a website dedicated to sneakers (or trainers, or whatever you call them), Nike have filed a patent for a shoe with an automatic lacing system, extremely similar to the pair worn by Marty McFly in 'Back to the Future Pt.II', set in the year 2015.

According to the patent (filed in February 2009), the shoes have 'three lighting devices' which are associated with 'an automatic fastening system'. What's even cooler is that they'll come with their own power supply system, which looks much like the hoverboard used in the same film. It's undisclosed whether they'll make the satisfying 'ssszzzup' noise that Mcfly's Nike Air Mags do (see the clip below).

The Hurt Locker to Become a Reality TV Show

The Hurt Locker, Kathryn Bigelow's Oscar-grabbing film about a US bomb disposal unit in Irag, has inspired a new TV show which is set to air on the US G4 channel next spring.

'Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan' will follow the training and subsequent deployment to Afghanistan of members of the US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal, otherwise known as EOD.

G4 president, Neal Tiles, said: "There is simply no way to comprehend the incredible amount of pressure and split-second decision making these individuals must undertake in the worst possible physical conditions without riding along with them as our cameras will do."

"This is a rare opportunity to showcase the work of the courageous men and women on the front lines and share with our viewers all the real-life drama, teamwork, danger and triumph that goes along with this specialised job."

Why is Sean Penn Dressed like Robert Smith from The Cure?

What on earth is Sean Penn up to? Well, far from moonlighting in a Cure cover band, he's busy filming his latest thriller, This Must Be The Place.

Written by Italian directors/screenwriter Paolo Sorrentino and Umberto Contarello, the synopsis goes something like this:

'Cheyenne, a wealthy former rock star (Penn), now bored and jaded in his retirement embarks on a quest to find his father's persecutor, an ex-Nazi war criminal now hiding out in the US. Learning his father is close to death, he travels to New York in the hope of being reconciled with him during his final hours, only to arrive too late. Having been estranged for over 30 years, it is only now in death that he learns the true extent of his father's humiliation in Auschwitz at the hands of former SS Officer Aloise Muller - an event he is determined to avenge.'

Leonardo DiCaprio to Earn 'Over $50 Million' with Inception

Leonardo DiCaprio in InceptionWhat a clever young man. According to Forbes, Leonardo DiCaprio looks set to make around $50 million for his role in Christopher Nolan's Inception - which is two and a half times his usual fee - purely because he decided to take an initial pay cut in order to receive 'first dollar gross points'.

For the industry unsavvy, that means DiCaprio will start to receive a percentage of the ticket sales after the movie has recouped its initial production costs - only the biggest movie stars can negotiate these kind of deals and it's helped DiCaprio's career greatly as it shows he's a credible star who can sell a film.

The 35-year-old actor will also help himself to a slice of the DVD revenues, although his percentage would possibly be less as studios hold on tightly to the home box office takings.

Oscar the Death Predicting Cat to be Made into a Movie

Bored of the psychic octopus but need a new fix of animals with uncanny powers? Well, your luck's in as Variety is reporting a film is in the works based on the extraordinary talents of Oscar - the death predicting cat.

Five-year old Oscar lives in the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, Rhode Island and has the ability to predict which patients are hours away from death. Staff at the center, which provides care for people with advanced dementia, noticed that Oscar would hold a vigil by curling up on a patient's chest. Sure enough, hours later the patient would pass away.

A best selling book, 'Making the Rounds With Oscar: The Extraordinary Gift of an Ordinary Cat', is now being adapted by screenwriters Luis Ugaz and Stephen Lindsey (who has previous animal form with 'Hachi: A Dog's Tale', a 2009 Richard Gere yawnfest about canine/human love) for Anonymous Content and Wind Dancer Films.
