Movie Kiosk Prices Going Up for New Releases

Fans of the $1-per-night kiosk DVD rentals will have to shell out more money for new releases -- if they want to see them the day they come out.

The Los Angeles Times has reported that 20th Century Fox signed a content distribution deal with NCR Corp., which operates kiosks under the Blockbuster brand, that will test prices higher than $1 per night for new releases the day they come out on DVD. According to the agreement, premium prices will be tested under the assumption that the public is willing to pay to be first in line to see new DVDs. When 28 days have elapsed after a DVD's initial release, Fox will then provide the DVDs for rental at $1 per night. It's a similar deal to the one Universal Pictures signed with NCR last month.

Who Should Play Lisbeth Salander in 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo'?

The 90-pound angsty heroine of 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,' Lisbeth Salander, was portrayed by Noomi Rapace in the 2009 Swedish film based on Stieg Larsson's bestselling book. Now that Sony Pictures is doing a remake, set to be released in December 2011, there's been much speculation about who should be cast to play the intriguing, bisexual hacker who helps a journalist solve a 40-year-old murder mystery.

David Fincher will direct, and if his previous projects ('Se7en,' 'Fight Club' and 'Zodiac') are any indication, he won't shy away from the cold and dark nature of the book. The blogosphere has been abuzz, with fans of the late Larsson's so-called Millennium Trilogy of 'Girl' books worried that the Hollywood version will dumb down or Americanize these complex characters. But so far, the choice to cast Daniel Craig as the disgraced and charming journalist, Mikael Blomkvist, is spot-on.

Recently a slew of young actresses reportedly screen-tested opposite Craig in full costume. Here's who we think would be best suited to play the coveted role.

Robert Downey Jr.: The Grown-Up Girl's Sex Symbol

In a world of Jonas Brothers and vampires who don't go all the way, Robert Downey Jr. is the adult woman's sex symbol -- an edgy, talented man with enough charisma to make 'Sherlock Holmes' a hit with those of us who can remember him from his days in the Brat Pack. Not only is he a man you can imagine having actual sex with (no promise rings needed here), he offers something that most Hollywood leading men don't -- a willingness to expose his flaws and vulnerability both on screen and off.

Downey Jr. captured attention for his role in 1987's 'Less Than Zero' and went on to prove his street cred with an Oscar-nominated turn in the title role of 1992's 'Chaplin.' And although his arrest record, known drug use and stints in rehab lend to his bad-boy persona, it's the way he was able to tackle his problems and come out the other side that's really appealing. A self-proclaimed Jewish-Buddhist, our rogue may have found spirituality, but thankfully it hasn't taken away that devilish glint in his soulful brown eyes.
