Paramount to Bring Back 'Ring' Franchise In, Yep, 3-D

It's baaaaack.

Heat Vision reports that the folks at Paramount Studios have hatched plans to resurrect 'The Ring' for a third installment, only this time powered by Hollywood's fuel of choice these days. You guessed it: 3-D.

The sequel is titled, imaginatively, 'Ring 3-D' for now, with a script forthcoming from David Loucka.

John Schneider to Star in 'Doonby'

It's a wonderful life for one of 'dem Duke boys. Well, kind of.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, John Schneider -- Bo Duke from 'The Dukes of Hazzard' -- has agreed to star in 'Doonby,' a modern-day version of the Jimmy Stewart classic 'Its a Wonderful Life,' but "with a little more edge."

Schneider will play the title character, Sam Doonby, a drifter who settles in a Texas town, only to find himself impervious to the bad luck that befalls the townsfolk. British filmmaker Peter Mackenzie will write and direct the film, and AC/DC's Brian Johnson will provide the soundtrack.

Disney Sets Release Date for 'Brave'; Greenlights 'Pirates 4,' 'Muppets'; Announces 'Monsters, Inc. 2'

It's been a busy week in the Disney camp.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, studio head Rick Ross moved forward yesterday on a number of high profile projects, including a release date for Pixar's 'Brave' (June 5, 2012), greenlights for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' and Jason Segel's 'The Muppets' for 2011, and the announcement that there will indeed be a sequel to 2001's 'Monsters, Inc.' in 2012.

Jack Nicholson Offered Role in Senior Citizen Version of 'The Hangover'

A Vegas vacation might be in the cards for Jack Nicholson.

Vulture is reporting that Nicholson (on his 73rd birthday no less) has been offered the lead role in the comedy 'LASt VEGAS' -- what Vulture calls "'Grumpy Old Men' meets 'The Hangover'" -- about a crew of 1950s-era friends who reunite in Sin City for the overdue wedding of Billy Gerson, the group's longtime bachelor.

Which is where Nicholson comes in, or so the filmmakers hope.

What we've seen so far of Ridley Scott's 'Robin Hood' has been full of grit, blood and aggression, the kind of action we've come to expect from Scott and his star, Russell Crowe, since they first teamed up for 'Gladiator' 10 years ago.

In fact, previews of 'Robin Hood' have been so similar in spirit and intensity to the 2000 Oscar winner that certain folks around the Internet -- perhaps even some here -- have taken to calling the May 14 release 'Maximus of Locksley.'

But this new clip from the upcoming film (with the help of Cate Blanchett's Maid Marian), shows a lighter, more playful side of the prince of thieves than we ever saw from poor, brooding Maximus.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Cast in Next Woody Allen Film

For Woody Allen, sometimes it's best to make it official, especially when you're dealing with politicians.

Though it's been widely reported for months that French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy would take a role in Allen's next film, the Hollywood Reporter broke the news today that "sources close to the production" confirmed that the former model will indeed appear in Allen's current flick alongside Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams and Marion Cotillard.

Allen has been vocal about wanting to cast Bruni-Sarkozy, whose only film appearance was in a small role Robert Altman's 1994 film 'Pret-a-Porter,' set in the world of high fashion.

Samuel L. Jackson and Kellan Lutz in Talks to Engage in 'Deathgames'

If you've ever wanted to see Nick Fury take on a 'Twilight' vampire, your wish may soon come true.

According to Heat Vision, Samuel L. Jackson and Kellan Lutz ('Twilight: New Moon') are in talks to star in the indie action flick 'Deathgames,' about an underground circuit of modern, gladiator-like battles.

Jackson may play the ringmaster who oversees the whole circuit from his computer lair, a position that features "the help of twin ladies who see to his every desire."

Lutz, meanwhile, is in negotiations to play a young man who is kidnapped and forced to fight in the games.
