Seth Rogen Rescues L.A. From Corruption in New 'Green Hornet' Trailer

When word broke last year that funny person Seth Rogen would play media mogul-turned-crime fighter Britt Reid in the latest incarnation of 'The Green Hornet' -- first a radio show in the '40s, then a TV show in the 60s -- the first thing we thought was: huh? Then we found out that Michel Gondry ('Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind') took over for 'Kung Fu Hustle's' Stephen Chow as the director, and we knew right then we were in for a different kind of super hero movie.

With Taiwanese multi-talent Jay Chou stepping into the role of the Hornet's sidekick, Kato (a role made famous in the '60s by Bruce Lee), Cameron Diaz as secretary/amateur detective Lenore "Casey" Case, and Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz as Benjamin Chudnofsky -- the LA gangster Kato and the Hornet set their sights on taking down -- the ingredients for the film seemed as unmatched as they were intriguing.

But the question remained: Will 'The Green Hornet' mix the same kind of action and humor that made 'Iron Man' such a success, or do we have another 'Jonah Hex' on our hands? Let's watch the trailer and find out.

Exclusive: 'Waiting for 'Superman'' Video Gets Graphic About the State of Education

For the last decade, Oscar-winning documentarian Davis Guggenheim ('An Inconvenient Truth') has turned his cameras on crippling gaps in the U.S. school system. His 2001 films 'Teach' and 'The First Year' took on the desperate need for qualified educators in the Los Angeles area public schools, imploring the next generation to become brighter, stronger teachers for the future.

Almost 10 years later, Guggenheim returned to see what progress had been made. From the looks of things, it wasn't much.

Much buzzed-about at this year's Sundance Film Festival, Guggenheim's 'Waiting for 'Superman'' is a feature-length documentary that asks why the U.S. has fallen to 25th in math and 21st in science among the world's 30 developed countries, yet still -- for whatever reason -- leads the pack in confidence.

The film's new trailer hopes to answer that question.

Happy 'Star Wars' Day, Everyone!

We've sensed a disturbance in the force of the 'Star Wars' community in recent years. And no, it's not because of the reviews for 'The Clone Wars.'

It has to do with Star Wars Day, on which Lucas-ites everywhere celebrate the success of arguably the biggest movie franchise of all-time. Some think it should be held every May 25, to celebrate the 1977 release of the film that started it all. Then there are others who prefer today, May 4, if for no other reason than to be able to say to their brethren: May the Fourth be with you.

However and whenever you choose to celebrate Star Wars Day (wedding, anyone?), there's plenty of celebratory Internetting today in honor of Luke, Leia and the crew.

Outlook Good for Movie Based on Magic 8 Ball

Magic 8 Ball movieA feature film based on a trivial toy from the '80s? All signs point to yes.

Vulture is reporting that Paramount is moving forward with plans to build a "sort of live-action 'National Treasure'-style action-adventure movie" around the Magic 8 Ball, the liquid-filled, fortune-telling apparatus that hit its Zenith as a piece of American kitch in the 1980s.

Title? 'Magic 8 Ball: The Motion Picture.' (Why not?)

However, the most surprising thing here isn't that Paramount appears, from all reports, 100 percent serious about its plans -- the studio has hired screenwriters Jon Gunn and John Mann to put together a story -- but rather that those plans have actually been in the works for four years.
