Emma Roberts, Freddie Highmore Get Angsty In 'The Art Of Getting By' Trailer

Lonely, existentially-lost boy meets popular-but-dissatisfied girl, creating an unlikely friendship that provides each with the missing piece of their emotionally adrift souls.

Okay, so the basic plot line of 'The Art of Getting By' may not be very original, but that doesn't mean it can't be pretty, fun and maybe even a little bit inspiring, stirring the inner teenager in all of us, whether we read 'The Catcher in the Rye' or 'Gossip Girl.'

Freddie Highmore and Emma Roberts take the guy and girl roles in the new film from writer/director Gavin Wiesen, a Sundance selection that originally was billed as 'Homework.' It was a fitting title -- Highmore plays George, a high school senior with a dim outlook on life and an even dimmer academic record, eschewing what he calls pointless homework for doodling and painting. Roberts takes on Sally, the popular girl who yearns for something more.

Criss, Pattinson, Franco, Leto: Who Should Play Jeff Buckley in a New Biopic?

Word came out over the weekend that Jake Scott, director of 'Welcome to the Rileys,' will be helming a big screen biography of late rocker Jeff Buckley.

Performing as a session musician before releasing his seminal and beloved album, "Grace," in 1994, Buckley drowned in the Wolf River in Tennessee before he could complete work on his second record.

Buckley boasted an ethereal voice and impressive guitar skills, and, though he passed at age 30 and released only one proper album, influenced a generation of musicians. It will be a much sought after role -- the question is, who should play it?

The license to use Buckley's music was part of the deal, so a good singer may not be necessary. But should the star be able to sing? Or is the look and attitude more important? Here are some casting possibilities.

Rob Riggle Closing In on '21 Jump Street' Deal

If you're wondering why a big-screen remake of a late-'80s TV show about cops who arrest kids is necessary, here's a solid argument: 'Daily Show' veteran Rob Riggle may co-star as a drug-dealing criminal mastermind.

Variety reports that Riggle is in talks to play the lead baddie in the upcoming reboot of '21 Jump Street,' which will star Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.

Riggle would play, according to The Hollywood Reporter, "a member of DAD -- Dads Against Drugs -- who has a burn-marked face and is secretly the main drug supplier."

'Hesher' Trailer: Joseph Gordon-Levitt Goes Wild (VIDEO)

Joseph Gordon-Levitt played an alien on 'Third Rock From the Sun' back in the day, but he's just downright subhuman in the teaser for his new indie drama.

The 'Inception' star -- and future 'Dark Knight Rises' baddie -- is hell-bent on trouble as homeless anarchist Hesher, the titular character in writer/director Spencer Susser's feature film debut.

Living in his van until he meets vulnerable 12-year old T.J. (Devin Brochu) -- whose mother just died, rendering his father (Rainn Wilson) emotionally crippled and incompetent -- Hesher takes the kid under his wing. For better or worse.
