The Sexiest Woman of the Summer Tournament: Final Four!

Filed under: Features, Best and Worst

The polls for Round 2 closed earlier, and our top seeds had a pretty easy time dispatching their challengers -- except for one upset generated by all you giant-alien-robot fans. Our quest to crown the Summer's Sexiest Woman has now reached its semifinal stage. Here's a rundown of what happened yesterday (see Round 1 here):

• Sure, Natalie Portman may have walked away from 'Black Swan' with an Oscar (and a fiance and a baby), but she was no match for her co-star Mila Kunis, who took their matchup by a score of 63 percent to 36 percent. (For some strange reason, a third, blank option turned up in our poll and, even stranger, 1 percent of you voted for that. Huh?)

Jessica Alba had an even easier time with her Round 2 opponent, Zoe Saldana, defeating her 68–32. What gives, 'Avatar' fans? We had expected that one to be a bit closer, but hey, it's up to you guys, and apparently you guys think Miss Alba is really, really pretty. Which is, you know, true.

• In our biggest upset so far, the Women of 'Transformers' took down the Women of 'X-Men' in a nail-biter, 52–48. With the likes of Halle Berry, January Jones, Rebecca Romijn, Jennifer Lawrence, Famke Janssen, Kelly Hu and many more, we figured the mutant ladies would coast into the semis. But Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley would have none of it. Shia Lebeouf, you are a lucky man.

• The final Round 2 contest saw Olivia Wilde trounce Rosario Dawson, breaking the 70 percent barrier in the process. Don't feel too bad, Rosario, we still love you. Olivia looks to be on the warpath here, though. We're quite interested to see how she fares in her upcoming bout. Speaking of which ...

With Rounds 1 and 2 in the books, let's take a look at our semifinal matchups, shall we?

Sexiest Woman of the Summer Tournament: Round 2

Filed under: Features, Best and Worst

First off, thanks to everyone who voted in Round 1. Now let's take a look at the results ...

• In the Superheroes' Girlfriends contest, Natalie Portman took down Blake Lively by a score of 65 percent to 35 percent. Sorry, Blake, but at least your margin of defeat here wasn't as wide as the Rotten Tomatoes scores for your respective movies ('Thor': 77 percent; 'Green Lantern': 27 percent).

• In the battle of Brawn vs. Brains, it was Brawn, in the form of Zoe Saldana, overcoming Brains, Freida Pinto, 69–31. Freida can probably rest easy, though, as 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' opened with over $50 million and is all but guaranteed a sequel, while 'Colombiana' barely broke $10 million.

• In our first Franchise contest, the Women of 'Transformers' absolutely demolished the Women of 'Final Destination,' 72–28, setting up a Clash of the Titans with the Women of 'X-Men.' Hard to find anything to help ease the pain the ladies of 'FD' are surely feeling, although there have been five 'Final Destination' flicks to only three 'Transformers' entries. Five is more than three -- a clear victory!

• Finally, it was Rosario Dawson over Penelope Cruz in the closest contest of the first round, a score of 59–41. Not to worry, Penelope -- 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' only made about $900 million more than 'Zookeeper.'

Round 2 is when things get really fun -- our top seeds now enter the tournament, and they are some heavy hitters indeed:

Who Is the Sexiest Woman of the Summer? Round 1 Starts Today

Filed under: Features, Best and Worst

All summer long here at Moviefone, we've been putting together a semi-weekly series entitled Summer's Sexiest Women. (It's tough work, we know.) What we've tried to do is showcase Hollywood's leading ladies in photo galleries and video collections, hopefully helping to provide a little background on how these beautiful women came to be the eye magnets on-screen that they are today. With summer just about to wrap up, we figured it was time to choose just who is the Sexiest Woman of the Summer 2011 movie season.

Please take a moment to review the nominees:

Today we begin a weeklong tournament to determine just which stunning starlet will earn the right to be called the Sexiest Woman of the Summer. Every day this week, we'll ask you, our dear readers, Who's Sexier? By Thursday, we'll narrow it down to two finalists, and we'll announce the winner on Friday afternoon to help kick off Labor Day weekend. Sound good?

Some details: We've given our top four seeds a first-round bye. (The top seeds were determined by which posts were most popular.) They are: No. 1 overall seed Mila Kunis, followed by Jessica Alba, the women of the 'X-Men' franchise, and Olivia Wilde. Facing off today to earn the right to go up against the top seeds tomorrow are:

Summer's Sexiest Women: Zoe Saldana of 'Colombiana'

'Colombiana' is in theaters now, and with it we get another chance to take in the stunning beauty and hard-edged toughness that the marvelously talented Zoe Saldana brings to just about every role she plays these days. The blue-skinned warrior of 'Avatar' and the normal-skinned gunslinger in 'The Losers' now gets the screen pretty much to herself in her latest adventure, in which she plays a woman with a single-minded purpose: revenge.

Now, as part our ongoing Summer's Sexiest Women series (see: Natalie Portman, Penelope Cruz, the lovely ladies of 'X-Men,' Blake Lively, Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Rosario Dawson, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde, Freida Pinto, the women of the 'Final Destination' franchise, Jessica Alba), we present you with a photo gallery of the gorgeous Miss Saldana at her finest, followed by a video collection of some of her sexiest work.

Meet the Stars Attending This Year's Toronto International Film Festival -- There Are a TON

The 2011 Toronto International Film Festival runs from Sept. 8–18, featuring the premieres of such surefire Oscar contenders as George Clooney's 'The Ides of March,' David Cronenberg's Sigmund Freud drama 'A Dangerous Method' and 'Anonymous,' which questions whether Shakespeare actually wrote all those plays.

The Toronto Star has a full list of this year's attendees, both performers and filmmakers, and trust us -- it is exhaustive. Here's a look at the stars whose names start with J:

Jamel Debbouze, James Gandolfini, Jane Fonda, Jason Reitman, Jason Statham, Jay Baruchel, Jean Dujardin, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jeffrey Wright, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Schuetze, Jessica Chastain, Joe Taslim, Joely Richardson, John Lydon, Jon Hamm, Jonah Hill, Jonathan Schteinman, Jordon Gelber, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Julia Maxwell, Juliette Binoche, Juliette Lewis, Jung Jae-Young, Juno Temple

There are many more, but we thought it would be a bit more fun to actually, you know, see the stars, rather than just read some list. They're movie stars, after all, which means pretty much by definition that they're nice to look at. We picked out 25 to kick off our gallery of the celebrities at this year's TIFF:

The Sexiest Vampires in Movies

'Fright Night'
opens this Friday, the latest entry in a genre which has been riding an enormous wave of popularity the past few years: the vampire movie. Fueled largely by such monster (sorry) hits as the 'Twilight' movies, the genre has also received fresh blood (sorry, again) from smaller, acclaimed flicks like 2010's 'Let Me In' and foreign contributions like 2009's 'Thirst,' not to mention TV's smash hit 'True Blood.' Things show no sign of slowing down either; this comprehensive list of vampire-themed projects from just the years 2009 through 2012 has over 80 entries (including TV series).

In 'Fright Night,' a remake of the 1985 hit starring Chris Sarandon and William Ragsdale, Colin Farrell steps in as the vampire-next-door to Anton Yelchin ('Star Trek'). Like Sarandon in the original, Farrell has more than just fangs at his disposal -- his magnetic sexuality proves just as effective a weapon in his pursuit of local ladies to seduce and feed on.

Regardless of where or when a vampire movie is set, nearly all of them take advantage of that oh-so-cinematic feature of blood-suckers: They're just so damn hot. Men and women alike, it doesn't matter -- if a vampire sets its sights on you, you have almost no choice but to submit. And with the likes of the stunningly seductive ladies and gentlemen in our gallery of the sexiest vampires in movies, we can see why their victims have such a hard time resisting.
