The 20 Smilingest Male Villains in Movies

What is it about smiling that can turn an otherwise ordinary bad guy into a memorable villain? Smiles, we are told, reveal that someone is happy about something. A villain, though, uses a smile for a different purpose: not to reveal, but to conceal. A great movie villain often doesn't see himself as a villain, but nevertheless, he knows that the best way to fit in -- to deflect suspicion and give the appearance that he is anything but a villain -- is a simple smile.

Double Duty: 10 Stars With 2 Movies at TIFF

Promoting one film at a festival is hard enough, but two? These performers (and one producer) had their work cut out for them at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. From Shakespearean war histories ('Coriolanus') to political thrillers ('The Ides of March') to Sigmund Freud ('A Dangerous Method'), this year's TIFF is an embarrassment of riches. And seriously, there's no such thing as too much Jessica Chastain.

We Don't Know How He Does It: Harvey Weinstein Attends Three Premieres in Two Countries in One Night

Harvey Weinstein might just be the hardest-working man in show business. The renowned big-shot producer managed to attend the premiere of 'I Don't Know How She Does It' in New York on Monday night, then fly up to Canada to take in the Toronto International Film Festival debuts of both the Madonna-directed 'W.E.' and the Shakespeare adaptation 'Coriolanus.' Granted, it's probably easier when you have your own jet, but still: quite the feat, even for a notorious multitasker like Harvey. Moviefone will keep you updated on when ol' Harv sets his sights on a quadruple-feature/single-night extravaganza, but until then, take a look at images from the trifecta.

Why There Hasn't Been a Definitive 9/11 Movie Yet ... and What Upcoming Film Might Be Just That

Ten years later, is it still too soon? A handful of films have addressed the events of September 11, 2001, from various angles, but none have attained true landmark status, culturally or cinematically. There is no work yet that might be called 'The 9/11 Story.' For an industry that didn't even wait until our previous president was out of office before depicting his life on-screen, that seems like an awful long time to wait before taking up the most widely documented incident in history, probably the most important event of the last generation.

Cue 'One Shining Moment,' please ...

Why the F**k Is 'Shark Night 3D' Rated PG-13, Not R?

Filed under: Features, Movie News, Horror

Earlier this week, when we published our preview of horror flicks due out this fall, we had this to say about 'Shark Night 3D':
"Are We Excited? Absolutely. We were oddly charmed by the sheer absurdity and gobs of gore and gratuitous nudity in 'Piranha 3D,' so we're crossing our fingers that the makers of 'Shark Night' follow that game plan. Of course, it could be utterly terrible too. This one doesn't have Jerry O'Connell, after all."
Well, it appears that the makers of 'Shark Night' did NOT follow that plan. Forgive us, but we overlooked one simple factor that would have drastically changed that blurb: 'Shark Night' is, for some exceedingly strange reason, rated PG-13, unlike the very, very, extremely R-rated 'Piranha,' which we liked so much. Yes, it's an oversight on our part, but please understand, this is what we were first told about 'Shark Night':
