10 Must-See Toronto Fest Films That Probably Won't Escape Toronto

The Toronto International Film Festival is an incredible bombardment of movies from every conceivable nook of the world, and while some of the festival's 300 selections will go on to Oscar glory, many of them will never see theatrical distribution beyond their home countries. TIFF often proves to be the only chance to catch films of the latter type on the big screen, and because distributors have a nasty habit of picking titles based on their commercial value and not their quality, these films tend to be some of the vast line-up's true gems.

So I've culled through the TIFF 2010 roster and - based on the descriptions provided and whatever else I might happen to know about these movies - I've selected 10 especially enticing films that I almost guarantee will never play in an American movie theater. 'Sucker Punch' Trailer Now Online!

One of the Hall H presentations I was most anxious to see was Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch. I'm an unapologetic Snyder fan. Sucker Punch is his first original work, which is always a fun prospect from any director, and I like what I know of the concept. I was eager to see how it played in Hall H, which tends to champion Snyder. (His 300 and Watchmen presentations rank among some of the more memorable things I've seen there.) This year was an exception, if only because everyone seemed to struggle with what they saw. Everyone I pumped for information said they liked it, but they honestly didn't know what it was. The consensus was that the visuals were amazing.

Now you (and I!) can see the footage ourselves. Snyder just opened a Twitter account, and one of his first Tweets was an announcement that Sucker Punch's ComicCon trailer was now available online. It's over on Apple in glorious hi-def (or you can watch it after the jump). Like those in Hall H, I find it difficult to describe, so just watch it for yourself. All I know is that I want to see more, and I'm crossing my fingers that its plot and performances match the incredible world Snyder appears to have created.
