When it blasted its way through theaters in May 2008, 'Iron Man' became a welcome and unexpected blockbuster thanks to Robert Downey Jr.'s sly performance, the kickass effects and Jon Favreau's inspired direction. Now the 'Iron Man 2' trailer has landed, and it looks like the next chapter of our helmeted hero's life is going to be even more exciting.

The 'Harry Potter' franchise may be a massive cash cow for Warner Bros., but the studio is not resting on its laurels when it comes to looking for its successor. With 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II' bringing that venerated series to a close in late 2012, WB execs have already signed on a new fantasy saga that they hope will rake in more green: 'Beautiful Creatures,' the first in a five-book series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.
Muggles, rejoice! We've just gotten our first glimpse of next year's highly anticipated sequel 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I.' Unlike many of the fantastic images we've come to expect from the revered film series, this one is pretty ... normal. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger look like they're more ready for tackling Black Friday in Piccadilly Circus than spell casting. But don't be fooled -- that's part of the conceit of the final 'Harry Potter' adventure, as the trio prepares for a wizard war in the real world, with Snatchers and Death Eaters running wild. The first half of 'Deathly Hallows,' which opens next Nov. 19, will find our favorite Hogwarts pupils blending into the Muggle world, wearing civilian clothes and finding sanctuary where they can as they attempt to put an end to Lord Voldemort's sinister plans for world domination. (And maybe Harry can get another chance to meet up with that cute waitress he blew off in 'Half-Blood Prince'?)
You can't keep a good Hobbit down, but you can certainly keep him waiting. While production for the 'Lord Of The Rings' prequel 'The Hobbit' was originally set for March, it appears that its filming start date has been pushed back to next summer ... at the earliest.According to JRR Tolkien fansite TheOneRing.Net, executive producer Peter Jackson told German media outlet Moviereporter.net that the film is still in development. "We're currently working on the second script, which we hope to have completed by the end of this year or beginning of next," said Jackson. "When the scripts are completed, we can begin with the exact calculation of the necessary budget." They hope to start filming by mid-2010, but Jackson stressed that "we've received no green light yet from the studio yet."
You can't keep a good vampire or werewolf down. Especially when they're so good-looking that swooning tweenagers dash to the theaters in droves to check 'em out. And probably more than once. Summit Entertainment's 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' brought in boatloads of cash this past weekend. Even more than expected. Who knows what will happen this Thanksgiving weekend, when kids will be out of school for four days straight.
Looks like someone's gunning to be the next big sci-fi/fantasy icon, judging from a recent report by Mania. After having blasted his way through last summer's 'Terminator: Salvation' and James Cameron's upcoming 'Avatar,' not to mention slicing off heads in next year's 'Clash Of The Titans' remake, 33-year-old Aussie actor Sam Worthington has signed on to co-star in the movie version of Rick Remender's upcoming three-part Radical Comics miniseries 'The Last Days of American Crime,' according to a report in Variety.
Yes, that's right, they're back. That zany 'National Lampoon's Vacation' couple Clark and Ellen Griswold (Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo) have evidently not endured enough road-trip punishment. Now they're going to be hawking HomeAway vacation rentals on a comedic ad campaign set to air during the Super Bowl on Feb. 7, 2010.Naturally, this leads us to wonder whether this confirms the rumors that we'll be punished with or treated to (depending upon your point of view) a fifth outing in the popular 'Vacation' series that followed the Griswolds' misadventures from Walley World to Europe to Vegas to their own home at Christmastime. And, if so, would the movie become one giant product placement for HomeAway?
