The Silent Treatment: Sherlock Jr.

I'm not ashamed (well maybe I'm a little ashamed) to admit that despite my status as an avid movie geek, there are a few gaps in my knowledge. The largest of these gaps is that of the silent film. Given that silent movies provide a connection to the dawn of the motion picture, it is important that all cinephiles acquaint themselves with as many as possible -- if for no other reason than to understand the roots of our beloved art form. I will be watching as many silent films as I possibly can, and, each month, will spotlight the titles that really standout.

This week we give "The Silent Treatment" to a classic comedy: 'Sherlock Jr.'

Season's Bleedings: Black Christmas

It's gotten to the point that no festive celebration is without its own signature slasher or identifiable bloodbath.

So, to wrap it all up, we are going to have ourselves a 'Black Christmas.'

For the last four years, Alamo Drafthouse programmer Zack Carlson has hosted a late-night horror movie celebration called Terror Tuesday and if you are a lover of horror, both esoterically brilliantly and obscurely awful, this night was invented just for you. The Terror Tuesday Report will dissect the movie shown as well as provide a barometer for the audience's reaction; as many of these films demand to be seen with an audience, this proves a vital component to the evening.
