10 Tattoos Inspired by Movies

I don't have a tattoo. However, that hasn't stopped me from wondering what Uma Thurman's Hattori Hanzo sword from 'Kill Bill' would look like permanently scrawled across my bicep. (Note: it would look ridiculous.) Earlier this week, Moviefone did an investigation to see how much it would cost to get the tattoo Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) sports in 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.' In the process, it was also discovered that, of the parlors visited, no one had come in asking for a replica of Salander's insignia. Luckily, there are plenty of other films out there that have inspired people to get inked (and in the process, made my Hanzo idea seem less ridiculous). Below, 10 Tattoos Inspired by Movies.

Worst New Year's Eve Scenes in Movies: 'The Godfather, Part II,' 'Boogie Nights,' 'Ghostbusters II,' and More

Feelings toward New Year's Eve are split into three groups: 'Love it,' 'Hate it' or 'Meh.' If you fit into the second category, you not only loathe the holiday, but you're against any Hallmark cards, stuffed animals, overpriced all-you-can-drink-and-eat shindigs at the Olive Garden, and the cheesy romantic movies that celebrate the end of the year. However, while Hollywood may be the best (worst?) at exploiting the sappiness of the midnight kiss, there are plenty of flicks out there which depict the ugly side of New Year's, where promising events or potential hook-ups turn into absolute disasters. Alas, for the New Year's Eve hater (or general cynic), Moviefone presents the Worst New Year's Eve Moments in Movie History.

New Releases: 'The Iron Lady,' 'A Separation' and 'Pariah'

Filed under: Movie News, New Releases

It's almost 2012, which -- depending on your level of interest in Mayan civilization -- either means the start of the apocalypse or the start of a new year. (Fingers crossed for the latter!) Whether or not you're preparing for the end days, there are still plenty of good movies to check out in the theaters (don't worry, you won't have to spend your final hours watching 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked'). From 'The Iron Lady' to 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' to 'Hugo,' let's take a look at this week's new releases, along with some films that are already on the big screen.

The Fake 'We Bought a Zoo' Twitter Account Just Committed Suicide

Breaking: The fake Twitter account for 'We Bought a Zoo' (@WEBOUGHTAZ00) has just committed suicide. The Twitter handle first popped up on Dec. 7, and has been non-stop with its hilarious yet oddly philosophical tweets from the point of view of Matt Damon (or Damon's character in 'We Bought a Zoo' -- sometimes it's hard to tell). However, it looks like the fun has finally come to an end. In a recent string of tweets, @WEBOUGHTAZ00 went off in a literal blaze of glory. Check out the dark and bizarre turn of (fake) events ahead.

Olivia Thirlby on Her Role in 'Dredd' and Fighting Aliens in 'The Darkest Hour'

You may not know Olivia Thirlby by name, but odds are you recognize the 25-year-old actress, who's starred in everything from 'Juno' to 'No Strings Attached' to 'United 93.' Judging from her upcoming slate of films, name recognition could soon follow as well. In addition to appearing alongside Paul Dano and Robert De Niro in next year's 'Being Flynn,' Thirlby is set to play Judge Anderson in the buzzed-about sci-flick, 'Dredd.' The film, based on the comic book series, was originally adapted into the famously awful 1995 movie 'Judge Dredd' with Sylvester Stallone (not that it matters -- Thirlby hasn't even watched that one); fans of the comic have been clamoring for another version ever since. Moviefone recently spoke with Thirlby about stepping into the role of Anderson, whether she was a sci-fi geek growing up and what it's like fighting aliens, which she does in her upcoming film, 'The Darkest Hour,' in theaters Christmas Day.

A Brief History of Helen Mirren Slumming

Dame Helen Mirren is an Academy Award winner, a Royal Shakespeare Company alumnus and was honored by the Order of the British Empire (hence the Dame). These things give you the ability to do pretty much anything you want with your career, like, for instance, make a vocal cameo on an episode of 'Glee.' Yes, according to TVLine, Mirren's voice will appear on the hit Fox program, January 17. Some -- sorry, Gleeks -- may consider this a step down for such an esteemed actress; in a way, it is. This woman did win an Academy Award for playing the Queen of England! However, where there's smoke there's fire: Dame Helen has a history of acting in a variety of odd (and, sometimes, outright bad) movies. On that note, Moviefone presents to you A Brief History of Helen Mirren Slumming.
