Martin Scorsese movies often tell complicated stories of crimes and misdemeanors that typically end in bloodshed. That isn't the case with 'Hugo' -- the director's latest film, and first foray into the family genre -- but, fear not, Scorsese fans! Marty has just signed up to direct 'The Snowman,' a crime thriller set in Oslo (Scorsese/'Snowman' rumors first popped up last month). On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Scorsese will head up the first English-speaking adaptation of Norwegian author Jo Nesbo's work.
'The Snowman' follows detective Harry Hole, who investigates the gruesome killing of a woman (the title of the book comes from the victim's son finding his mother's pink scarf wrapped around a snowman's neck). 'World War Z' screenwriter Matthew Michael Carnahan has signed on to write the script.
As for the bloodless 'Hugo,' that opens this Wednesday, Nov. 23.
