When you think about it, numbers are pretty darn scary. Remember how terrifying they were staring up at you from complicated math exams in school? Stupid numbers in stupid equations that just wouldn't solve themselves! Dates with significant numbers and sequences do a pretty good job of getting us all riled up. Case in point: The year 2000. Don't act like you didn't think about stockpiling food or building a panic room.
Some folks are worried about the ominous date 11-11-11. And, of course, there's a movie coming out to tap into our irrational fears. It's called – yep – '11-11-11.' So many ones! The horror! One is, ultimately, the scariest number of all since it ties into one of the most common human fears -- loneliness -- and we all know that one is the loneliest number.
With that in mind, it does seem possible that such a date – 11-11-11 – could hold some sort of significance, doesn't it? According to the movie's premise, '11-11-11' is when an entity from another world enters the earthly realm through Heaven's 11th gate. (OMG, another 11!) Bad things happen.
So if you weren't afraid of 11-11-11 before, you just might be now. Or, who knows -- maybe you're more wary of 12-12-12. Some people believe that'll be the end of the world. (Or December 21, 2012, depending on who you ask.) There's no shortage of numbers and dates to be afraid of, and there are plenty of flicks that do a great job of playing on our fears. There are five in particular that have made me forever associate certain dates or numbers with very bad things.
As if math didn't make numbers scary enough. These five flicks give us an irrational fear of numerical horrors like the number 23, Friday the 13th and 2012!
