How many times can 'The Dark Knight Rises' lead the Morning Grind this week? A lot. EW reports that the Christopher Nolan production will not film the Occupy Wall Street protestors in Zuccotti Park as previous rumors had indicated. Per a representative from Warner Bros., 'The Dark Knight Rises' -- which is using the secret ("secret") and indie rock-friendly code name 'Mangus Rex' -- has been scheduled to shoot in New York City for months, and no changes or concessions were made because of the protests. No real surprise, but pretty exciting: Peter Jackson will direct the sequel to 'The Adventures of Tintin,' provided there is a sequel to 'The Adventures of Tintin.' Said co-producer and first-film director Steven Spielberg to THR, "[Sony and Paramount] were willing to do one movie with us and then give us the financial wherewithal to develop a script, do all the visual storyboards and get it really in launch position. So we can launch pretty quickly on a second movie. The script is already written." [THR via indieWIRE/The Playlist]
Maligned action director McG might have a new project lined up: the poorly named 'Puzzle Palace,' which follows the son of a veteran police officer who tries to prove his father was framed for murder by breaking into One Police Plaza in New York City. Naturally, problems ensue when a bunch of dirty cops get trapped inside as well. (Maybe just call it 'One Police Plaza'?) David Guggenheim ('Safe House') wrote the script. [THR/Heat Vision]
One for the geeks! Comic book legend Ed Brubaker is adapting his own comic series 'Coward' for a feature film that David Slade ('The Twilight Saga: Eclipse') will direct. 'Coward' follows "a master heist planner who lives in a world of hustlers, crooked cops, pickpockets and lowlifes." [Variety]
Finally, a movie like 'The Fast and the Furious.' Karl Urban and Ben Barnes will play car thief brothers in the France-set thriller 'Overdrive.' Pierre Morel ('Taken') will produce, so you know what to expect from this one. [THR/Heat Vision]
Because Michael Fassbender's sex life is potentially more upsetting to audiences than watching torture, rape, and skull-crushing violence, festival favorite 'Shame' has been rated NC-17 by the MPAA. No surprise, obviously -- in addition to full-frontal nudity by Fassbender and co-star Carey Mulligan, 'Shame' features numerous sexual acts -- but kind of hypocritical when you consider that the pervasively violent 'Drive' only received an R.
