Probably not! But: the first trailer for Angelina Jolie's directorial debut 'In the Land of Blood and Honey' has snuck online, and it looks gorgeous? Tragic? Like the work of a budding master? Jolie's new film -- which doesn't feature the Oscar-winner onscreen -- focuses on the forbidden love between a Muslim woman and a Serbian soldier during the Bosnian war in the mid-'90s. That's controversial enough, but 'In the Land of Blood and Honey' was also dogged during production by rumors of rape being the source of their clandestine romance.
Bosnian officials revoked Jolie's filming permits for 'In the Land of Blood and Honey' last October, after receiving pressure from women's groups because of rumored content in the film. "Among thousands of testimonies by women raped during the war, there is not a single one that tells of a love story between a victim and her rapist," said Women Victims of War head Bakira Hasecic at the time. "We will not allow anyone to falsify our pain."
Just days later, the permit was reinstated after officials had a chance to read the script, which apparently didn't include the lightning-rod issue. Said the actress at the time, "My hope is that people will hold judgment until they have seen the film."
Jolie also wrote the script for 'In the Land of Blood and Honey,' something she said she accomplished while ill and quarantined from her children. "I don't watch TV and I wasn't reading anything," she told Vanity Fair this year. "So I started writing. I went from the beginning to the end. I didn't know any other way."
'In the Land of Blood and Honey' is set for release sometime in December.
