Back in 2010, Voltage Pictures, the studio behind 'The Hurt Locker,' attempted to sue thousands (24,583, to be specific) of Internet users who had downloaded the movie illegally through the program BitTorrent. However, since filing the motion a few months back, Voltage has had a very difficult time actually identifying the names of the downloaders (Internet providers have been reluctant to give over the actual names behind the IP addresses). As a result, the studio has been forced to drop 21,000 defendants from the lawsuit. Those last few thousand still attached to the crime? Well, Voltage better hurry: as VentureBeat points out, plaintiffs have only 120 days to serve the downloaders with papers. Voltage has since asked for an extension.
