It's very difficult to successfully make a film based off a classic movie, but we have to tip our hat to the people behind this year's 'The Thing.' The teaser trailer was released earlier today, and it looks like viewers will be in for quite a ride.
This 'Thing' is a prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 film of the same name. Taking place three days before the '82 events, Dutch filmmaker Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. will follow the Norwegian crew that we see (what's left of them, anyway) at the beginning of Carpenter's flick.
While this movie does claim to be a prequel, we can't help but point out the similarities: the dog barking wildly; the crew drinking and hanging out, having no idea something very bad is about to go down; the monster taking the place of human beings. But don't let that dissuade you from at least watching the trailer, which is below.
They need to not remake a movie unless it has something really different to offer. From the trailer, it reminded me of the second remake with Kurt Russell only this time it's with a chick. I still favor the first one. That was a classic and really got the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up.
OY! Kitty Like! The original spooked me out for two years...There are a few scenes which were so awful, so very very nerve shattering, so ...some things are better left unsaid. 29 years later, I still won't watch HBO. I was at an isolated unit during a severe winter storm when HBO aired this film- I will never forget..see the original first..
don't malign remakes; they're meant for the next generation who cannot be persuaded to watch, in this case, a nearly 30 year old movie. This looks great. A real horror throwback vibe
