John Hawkes of 'Winter's Bone' and Joshua Leonard co-star in the film, and that's Farmiga's younger sister Taissa playing Farmiga's character Corinne as a child.
'Higher Ground,' is based on a memoir by Carolyn Briggs. It opens in the U.S. on August 26.
