In the wake of the unusually lukewarm reception that Pixar got with 'Cars 2' this past weekend, we now have our hands on the first teaser trailer for their next effort, 'Brave.'
As we've been reporting, 'Brave' is about a Scottish princess named Merida who follows her destiny with her trusty bow by challenging the traditions of her elders. In doing so, she sends the land into chaos and unwittingly turns to a witch for help. The witch then grants her an ill-fated wish that just makes the situation worse. The peril and havoc that follow put Merida's skills to the test as she discovers the true meaning of bravery and tries to undo the damage.
Wish we had more details to give you than that, but hopefully some of you will dissect this teaser until you're blue in the face and can give us some kind of insight on the matter. Either way, we love that Pixar finally has its first female lead and a tone that's as intense as anything we've seen from the studio.
So hit the jump to check out the trailer for yourselves.
It doesn't give us a whole lot to go off of in the story department and we won't get to see it for ourselves until summer 2012, but it does look awful pretty and that epic, medieval tone seems pretty legit. Definitely an upgrade from 'Cars 2.'
