Deadline reports the '30 Rock' actor will indeed appear in 'Rock of Ages,' director Adam Shankman's big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical, starring Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Mary J. Blige and Julianne Hough.
Earlier this week, New Line President Toby Emmerich told Deadline the actor wanted out of the production, which begins filming in Miami on May 23, "if at all possible."
Now, it seems Jeff Robinov, movie chief at New Line's mother company Warner Bros., has demand Baldwin fulfill his contract and do the film, citing the difficulty the studio would have finding a suitable replacement on such short notice.
Before Baldwin was cast, Will Ferrell and Steve Carell were both offered the role and passed. The '30 Rock' star is also set to star in Woody Allen's next film, an untitled comedy set in Rome and co-starring Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, Penelope Cruz and 'Life Is Beautiful' star Roberto Benigni.
'Rock of Ages' hits theaters June 1, 2012.
