Matt Reeves is sinking his teeth into a new vampire project.

The director of the chilling yet sensitive vampire drama 'Let Me In' has been tapped by Fox 2000 to helm an adaptation of Justin Cronin's 'The Passage,' a novel set in a future where a government experiment to lengthen the human life span goes awry, unleashing a virus that transforms people into vampires, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Coming off the critical and commercial successes of 'Let Me In' (a remake of the Swedish thriller 'Let the Right One In') and 'Cloverfield,' Reeves' career is picking up. Last week he signed up with Universal to write and direct an adaptation of '8 O'Clock in the Morning,' a short story that was the basis for John Carpenter's 1988 'They Live.'

Ridley Scott, who originally was thinking about handling directing duties on the film, will produce.
