Move Over, James Franco: 5 Stars Who Would Have Done Better as Oscar Host

I loved Frano and Hathaway...they were the best. Franco is beautiful and a great actor ...will you a-holes get over complaining about the Oscars many of us loved them and love Franco...one of the greatest actors of his generation. They were young, adorable and refreshing. All the sheep will follow you of course...cause you're probably those vapid, vacant Kadashian lovers. You wouldn't know great acting if it hit you in the face.

I'd like to see Dame Edna have a stint at hosting (provided Barry Humphries can write his own material). At least you can be assured there would be some snappy fashion sense up there on the screen to watch and more importantly, some humour with Edna's finely honed irreverence for all things pretentious (the Oscars and the Stars).

This year was actually a fine refreshing program, without the nastiness that seems to pervade all this year's ceremonies to date. For a change presenters Anne and James were having a great time though I agree James Franco didn't appear comfortable. Even so, they were charming and graceful and fun to watch.

The highlights of individual presenters were unequivacably Bob Hope, Kirk Douglas, Billy Crystal, Kevin Spacey, Robert Downey & Jude Law, and Eli Wallach, for as briefly as he was there, For a change the stars didn't have to wait and cringe when some unconscionable comic threw a nasty dig their way. For a change, most of the movies I liked won. For a change, even the slightly political comments that some winners snuck in were in good taste.

Where was a fifth nominee for best song? Some very good music was not even nominated(as usual), like Cher's song in Burlesque...

I would not like to see Conan nor David Letterman nor Jay Leno nor Ricky Gervais as MC any time soon. Ricky Gervais' take on the Golden Globes was a horrible presentation; while he must have thought that his jokes were funny, in truth they were mean spirited and nasty. I want to see more of Anne with someone like Hugh Jackman who graciously took all the gentile jokes that were made at his expense.


I question what people and reviewers are looking for at the academy awards. There seems to be alot of self importance attached to making the outstanding critique regardless of people's feelings. Clothing, on-stage behavior, speeches & language, and scandal are all ripe foder for the gossip mongers. Have you never chosen an outfit that you later realized was not such a great choice? Besides, these clothes are not really clothes, they are costumes, and as such, almost anything goes.

I would like to see the reviewers credentials. How did they become experts? One should applaud the stars for their courage in coming to these events, knowing that their choices may be ridiculed. Iris

Hello? No Tina Fey? No other funny women in Hollywood? Jeez.

Not much of the James Fraco fan , yet I thoughr Anne Hathaway was just a great chice .
she brought grace and class to the show , and did a great job as the host.

Billy Crystal. No one can top him as host. If you have to do it in pairs... Then add Sandra Bullock. She was great in the few minutes she was up on the stage. They'd make a great team. Younger and hipper isn't always better. True fans of the Oscars don't want it to become a foul disgusting show like the MTV Awards. Someone might want to pass that along to the winner for best supporting actress.

This guy, Franco, is way too cool for his own good. Trying too hard to affect a James Dean, early Marlon, etc. We have seen it all before, and done much better. The supercool posturing is offensive, and really insults the audience. Also saw his interview before the oscars -- same lousy attitude. I normally would not participate in this type of forum, but I was sufficiently irritated to respond.
