Moviefone Minute: New 'Hobbit' Woes and a New 'Harry Potter' Book? Maybe?

McKnz707, you are so mistaken it's not funny. These books teach kids about friends, truthfulness, recognizing good from evil, real love for those around you...all kinds of uplifting subjects. To call these books evil is just about the most ignorant thing possible. Is there evil in the books? Yes, but it's the good, the love, the true friendships, loyalty, and the willingness to go so far as to die to save others that wins out in the end. How can that be bad? You have a lion die in a children's book, and somehow that's about Jesus, yet you have a young man die to make sure everyone else lives, and that's evil? How two-faced is that? Please take the time to read the book. You will have a very different outlook on them if you do.

I agree, splitting the book into two films was the only way to get enough information in to cover the story completely. The one thing I've always hated about the movies is that they leave a lot out, and it really does change the story. For instance, in The Half-Blood Prince, we missed out on the whole first part of the story, where Harry was fuming about not being with his friends all summer, thinking everyone was against him, and having some really dark thoughts, along with the pain of his connection to Valdemort. In the movie, we see him sitting on a swing in the playground, but...is he sad? Is he lonely? Is he thinking about his parents? It's very ambiguous. Give me two, even three movies if need be, but get all of the salient parts in there.

I for one would love to see another HP book come out. I am hooked and amazed by the whole story. I agree that the last book should be in two parts. I was saddened when I saw Half Blood Prince. Not because it was a bad movie or anything, but because after reading the book, the movie missed a lot of things. For example, there was more to the fight scenes between Snape and Potter. Snape scolded Potter in the book for not learning to do his spells silently.

The whole transporting thing was something Potter could not get the hang of in the book as well. There is so much that I could pick at that would make it seem as though I am bitching about the movie and book, but truth be told I loved both.

Nit-picking aside, I will gladly pay to see this movie in 2 parts. That way everything is in the book and they don't have to make bad cuts.

I hope she does. I haven't read any o fher books yet. But it is in her to write so she should.

Yep I would squeal if J.K. Rowling made that announcement. She could write about Hagrid, the Weasley family, the next generation or a prequel about Harry's father and mother at Hogwarts. Harry's story is told but there are so many other characters to explore.

Oh good grief!! The books are pretend folks, not real and kids know that. I'll bet most parents know that too. I'm past 50 and love the stories and the author's sense of imagination.

I gasped at the person who thinks HP is turning out witches and warlocks and God isn't happy about it. Vampires, Werewolves and Zombies and Trolls, have been a big thing in the movies too. So we should outlaw all these terrible creatures because it's wrong. Is it wrong? Let's be true to your reasoning. There are many terrible creatures out there that God is not happy about..bigots, racists, terrorists, well, you get the idea...I laugh, because the worst of the lot is ignorance and fear. And does anyone have spell check on their computer?

I would like to see her maybe start a new adventure with the next generation, Harry's & Ron's kids. I miss the series, it started when my kids were small and now the youngest is in college. I look forward to reading the books to my grandchildren if I get any! The movies are nice, but the books are so much better.
