I'm going to keep this short and quick: the general consensus (aka my twitter feed) seems to indicate that the summer of 2010 was "like, one of the worst ever," as decided by a group of people with the average age of 27. I actually agreed with that sentiment until just now, which is when I popped open the summer schedule and started reminiscing. Speaking only about "studio" flicks, since this is the summertime we're talking about, we start with...
Iron Man 2
Robin Hood
MacGruber
Shrek Forever After
Sex and the City 2
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
-- I actually dug Iron Man 2 quite a bit, but this is an admittedly thin batch. Anyone out there want to champion one of these flicks?

Get Him to the Greek
Killers
Marmaduke
Splice
The A-Team
The Karate Kid
Jonah Hex
Toy Story 3
Knight and Day
Grown Ups
Eclipse
Wow. There's a few there I haven't seen, but even fans of Greek or The A-Team are hardly to call them big-time summer season barn-burners. Splice is a pretty damn cool piece of sci-fi / horror, but I don't get why you release that flick in the summertime. (pause for dramatic effect) Toy Story 3 is a thing of beauty.

The Last Airbender
Despicable Me
Predators
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Inception
Ramona and Beezus
Salt
Charlie St. Cloud
Dinner for Schmucks
Of this batch I really liked Inception (like most of you seemed to), Salt (a lot more than most people did), and Predators (more than I probably should have).

The Other Guys
Step Up 3D
Eat Pray Love
The Expendables
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Vampires Suck
Lottery Ticket
Nanny McPhee Returns
Piranha 3D
The Switch
The Last Exorcism
Takers
Like a lot of old movie / video game freaks, I virtually made out with Scott Pilgrim, even if general audiences didn't, I dug the relatively guilty pleasures of The Expendables (if only because it's a vast improvement over Rambo 4), and I definitely enjoyed the one-two end-of-season horror punch of Piranha (stupidly splattery) and The Last Exorcism (smartly scary). Ah, and I did giggle a whole lot during The Other Guys, truth be told.
Overall, not a "Top 3" summer season, but we did get one brilliant sci-fi flick and a new animated classic out of it. Plus a few memorable movies that may be worth revisiting ... and some crap that's just plain old fun.
Sort of like every other summer movie season I can think of, basically.
