It's official: 'Kids are All Right' co-star Mark Ruffalo will play The Hulk in Marvel's highly anticipated 'Avengers' movie, in theaters May 4, 2012.The news was announced during tonight's Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con, along with confirmation that Oscar-nominated actor Jeremy Renner will play Hawkeye. The entire cast was brought out on stage to great fanfare following scheduled 'Captain America' and 'Thor' panels.
In addition to Ruffalo and Renner, the full 'Avengers' cast now comprises Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Chris Evans (Captain America). Joss Whedon, who came onto the stage last, will direct.

The role of the Hulk has been at the center of discussion since it was announced that Edward Norton, who starred in 2008's 'The Incredible Hulk,' would not reprise the role in 'The Avengers.' Ruffalo's name has been attached to the project since July 14, and was said to have officially signed on as of yesterday, according to Deadline.
