'Avatar' Sets Blu-ray Record

Got to watch this movie in I-Max, it is absolutely amazing. Gone with the wind is a terrible movie. (0_o)

I love creative movies & Avatar was just dazzling. It was amazing in IMAX.
Who cares if the storyline wasn't completely original. A lot of movies are spin offs of something else, but that doesn't mean they can't be great.
Now what blows me away is why people want to read into things so much. A racist movie? Yeah right. & to be honest, I got more of an Indian vibe from the blue folks instead of a black vibe. With the tribal feathers, bows and arrows, the random blurting of "yah yi yi yah!", the spiritual connection with animals and nature. That's definitely a tribal indian thing. I just wanted to clear that up with some of you folks.

the purpose of movies is to be ENTERTAINED and this movie definitely did that in alot of different ways. people need to lighten up and enjoy a damn movie once in a while. it's an escape from your boring lives.

Avatar was 2 different movie experiences: IMAX 3D and all the other versions. The IMAX version gave this breath-taking feeling of 'being there.' I'm waiting for the the 3D home version and since I won't be buying a 3D home setup until the Fall I'm okay with the delayed release. I've heard talk that it might be re-released to IMAX theatres sometime in the fall. If you haven't seen it that way, try it. I'll go again.

What the heck is going on here?? The TV ads for the movie proclaim it to be "The #1 movie of all time" and I just don't get that. I can name right off the top of my head at least 20 movies that are more deserving of that distinction. We start with "The Godfather" both I and II and go from there. So it grossed more box office than any any other movie. But, so what?? Box office cash has *Nothing* to do with how good or bad the movie is. Box Office $$ is all about hype and the public's response to that hype. If you remember, "Snakes On A Plane" got all that pre-release hype, and folks couldn't *wait* for the movie to open. When it did, it fell flat. The box office $$ was there for a while, but the movie was just *Bad* and no amount of hype is going to help a movie that is just plain bad. All the "New Coke" campaigns failed because nobody liked New Coke. It was just plain bad, and no amount of hype and clever ad campaigns could overcome that. "Avatar" seems to be for the most part living up to the hype so far. But from what I've read here, response by "average movie-goers" is at best mixed. We'll see how it shakes out in the coming weeks. Meantime, everyone, don't fall for the hype. You are only lining the pockets of guys who don't deserve it.

Would be wonderful if it would play on my SONY VAIO with WINDVD . Corel and Sony have not found a way to make it play on their players yet.

Ever wonder how George W. Bush got elected? Every time I do, I read comments like some of these and it becomes obvious. There is no way to explain stupidity. We, my partner and I, thoroughly enjoyed Avatar on the giant screen in 3D, and again on the small screen. The underlying message to us was simple....GREED destroys itself! Just look at the big money compainies strangeling themselves in today's economic crisis!

best movie of all time!! honestly, if you dont like this movie and the story line behind it, you have NO TASTE! my boyfriend and i went to see it in 3D twice, and the day it came out we went and bought it. I just watched it again the other day.. I like 3D movies but i would watch a blu-ray over 3D anyday.
