Three new releases this week:
The Back-Up PlanWhat's It All About: After becoming disillusioned with the dating process, Zoe decides she is going to be a single parent. On the day of her artificial insemination, though, she meets someone who may well be the man of her dreams.
Why It Might Do Well: Honestly, I've got nothing here.
Why It Might Not Do Well: The premise seems gimmicky and Jennifer Lopez's box office clout is seriously in doubt these days.
Number of Theaters: 3,300
Prediction: $14 million
The LosersWhat's It All About: A team of mercenaries wage war on the CIA after they are double-crossed and left for dead.
Why It Might Do Well: Comic book adaptations are hot these days.
Why It Might Not Do Well: On the other hand, most people aren't going to realize this is a comic book film.
Number of Theaters: 2,950
Prediction: $18 million
Oceans (opens on Thursday)What's It All About: A Disney-produced documentary exploring the mysteries of the world's oceans.
Why It Might Do Well: I suppose some may mistake this for a prequel to Ocean's 11.
Why It Might Not Do Well: Relatively small distribution and the fact that this is a documentary is going to keep this out of the top five.
Number of Theaters: 1,200
Prediction: $6 million
