Anna Faris is in the Army now.According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 'House Bunny' star has agreed to star in a remake of classic 1980 comedy 'Private Benjamin,' which originally featured Goldie Hawn as a woman who enlists in the Army following a honeymoon night gone terribly wrong.
The original was nominated for three Oscars, including Best Actress (Hawn), and was heralded for its subversive take on women's issues.
And though the political climate has changed in the 30 years since its release, fans of the original shouldn't worry: While producers say they will set the fish-out-of-water story against the backdrop of the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, the film will still focus on empowerment aspects and not on political score-settling.
The news caps off a nice week for Faris. As we reported yesterday, 'Saturday Night Live's' Andy Samberg and Zachary Quinto ('Star Trek') are currently vying to play her potential love interests in the upcoming comedy 'What's Your Number?', which begins shooting this spring.
