We here at Moviefone may sometimes front like hardened cynics, complaining about how hackneyed or contrived the latest romantic comedy is, or even going so far as to rank the 25 worst ever. But deep down, we're hopeless romantics just like everyone else (yeah, even you, Steven Seagal).
To prove it, we've crafted this tribute to love and romance.
Send it to the person (or people) you love... Because if there's anything we've learned from watching movies, it's that sometimes screenwriters -- and the actors bringing their words to life -- can express our sentiments exactly.
There a several movies that were left out that I would've liked seeing. Lady and the Tramp, of course. Pretty Woman, Camille, Beauty and the Beast, Shrek, Benny & Joon, Edward Scissorhands, and probably other countless Disney movies. Maybe even Dark Victory or Mr. Skeffington with Bette Davis.
Very nice, but I can't believe you left out Billy Crystal's (Harry's) words to Meg Ryan (Sally) at their second New Year's Eve party encounter. "I love....(lots of good stuff he loved about her)."
The scene in "The Birdcage" where Robin Williams says "...there's only one place in the world I call home, and it's because you're there."---That's one of my favorite lines from a movie, because it really sums up what love is, whether you're talking about your spouse, your children....whoever it is you live with that you call your family...your HOME.
Actually, I didn't 'swoon' over The Notebook, . . . in fact, I disliked the movie for several reasons. BUT, what I DID enjoy about the movie was the deep sense of REAL LOVE that you felt between James Garner and Gena Rowlands. More scenes that I really loved were between Alec Baldwin and the old man, (who is actually Meg Ryan) in Prelude to a Kiss! Very moving! How about Katharine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole in The Lion in Winter?
