According to the Hollywood Reporter, 'Avatar' now stands at $601.2 million, domestically, sailing past 'Titanic''s previous record of $600.8 million. This comes after an astounding seven weeks atop the box office.

As of today, 'Avatar' now holds the number-one spot domestically, overseas and worldwide, all of which were previously claimed by 'Titanic'; and having just received nine Oscar nominations yesterday, 'Avatar' is in a position to make even more money. Whether or not this will boost 'Avatar''s chances at winning Best Picture remains to be seen. In fact, some already think that it will lose to Kathryn Bigelow's 'The Hurt Locker,' which ironically grossed just $12 million, domestically.
