Are you familiar with Crackle.com? It's an online service that, using satellites and data centers and coding elves, will deliver to you free movies via the tubes of the Internet. I know, I know, it's magic, but it's true. Just head on over here and with just a few clicks of the mouse you can gain access to Crackle's Zombiefest, which includes a couple dozen horror movies available on demand.
Now they're not all strictly zombie movies, but there are some great undead classics on the Crackle roster. I'd highly recommend Fred Dekker's awesome '80s genre-mashup Night of the Creeps, which you can check out on Crackle before it comes out on DVD and Blu-ray at the end of the month. Same goes for Idle Hands, which is a great bit of late '90s nostalgia that's worth popping on from time to time. And if you don't like comedy bleeding into your horror, perhaps titles like Lucio Fulci's The Beyond, Tobe Hooper's Lifeforce, Bernard Rose's Candyman, or Mark Pellington's The Mothman Prophecies are more up your alley.
Also available as part of Zombiefest is a Crackle original comedy series called Woke Up Dead, starring Jon Heder as a college student who, well, wakes up dead. The episodes are short and funny, a welcome distraction from an otherwise mundane work day (assuming your boss isn't looking over your shoulder).
Read on for a sampling of their horror section and click here to start your watching. Note, though, that some of these titles will only be available during October, so watch 'em while you can.
