Chris Pine is in talks to go from Kirk to counterfeiting.According to Variety, the 'Star Trek' star and director D.J. Caruso ('Eagle Eye,' 'Disturbia') are in negotiations with Paramount to team up for an adaptation of the nonfiction book 'The Art of Making Money: The Story of a Master Counterfeiter.'
If the deal closes, Pine would play Art Williams, the alias for a Chicago man who transitioned from small-time thief to master counterfeiter.
The project is based on the work of writer Jason Kersten, who penned a feature about the crook in 2005 for Rolling Stone before turning the story into a book last summer.
Pine, who played the iconic Capt. James T. Kirk in the Paramount reboot of "Star Trek" last spring, is currently working alongside Denzel Washington on the Tony Scott-directed thriller 'Unstoppable,' which will be released next year.
