The Ultimate Sci-Fi Poll: Results

My vote is Star Wars Episode 1 because is is part of the greatest Sci-Fi saga. Qui Gon and Obi One were fantastic, the story shows the full range of the Jedi skills. Star Trek IV a close second. Leonard Nimoy did a wonderful job, all the characters at there best and lots of humor.
Most of the comments seem like they are from people who have not read and or seen many of the Sci-Fi movies out there. Just because you don't like it or think a movie is stupid does not mean it was not good or even great at the time released. Star Wars Episode IV in 76/77 made over 300 million dollars the first year world wide and in Wash DC had lines qrapped around the only theater to have is for the first 30 days released. Movies today are an evolution of yeaterday. Look at it that context and be a little more forgiving.
As for the newest Start Trek addition to the collection. I enjoyed it, it was entertaining. I also thought Spock should not be acting so out of character, and leaving Earths greatest ally destroyed left me with with an unsetteling feeling. The Star Trek book Starfleet Acacemy recently out by William Shatner would have been a better story in mine opinion for what it's worth. I have enjoyed all the Star Trek movies and TV however Rick Berman is probably more responsible for what happend to the francise not Majel he was left in charge by Paramount for those of you who would point your fingers at Majel Roddenberry shame on you.

You've got to be kidding! The hands down best "ground breaking" sci-fi has to be "2001 Space Odessy". Everything was cutting edge: story line, special effects, impact, thought provoking, you name it, the list goes on.

The Empire Strikes Back is best of all the Star Wars Movies, and the wrost Star Wars movie was The Phantom Menace... I agree with LisaJane44. 2001 was indeed the best of all time. Serious and adult movie. Why does a Sci-Fi movie has to be juvenile as the related ones. Incredible effects for the time, superb soundtrack, great direction, a masterpiece among all genres. It was focused on the mystery of life and universe, and not on action or horror.

Please don't tell me you are saying those old movies are the best and no newer movie can stand up to their standards. I completely agree they were great movies, but come on... they still say Citizen Kane is the greatest movie ever and I find that hard to believe. All of this is purely opinion and subjective. The writers of the poll presumed to pick the top 5 or so in their opinion rather than have it be a true vote. This poll means nothing.

ALL of these films and sequels, Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Star Trek, Close Encounters, et al., each and every one of these films was BOR-ING!!! I remember my parents forcing me to sit for almost two hours in a packed movie theater to watch Star Wars; I HATED IT. In fact, I sat there with my one brother and we laughed and made fun of it, because the premise was so ABSURD. I'll never understand what sci-fi people get out of films and books such as these. I'm sorry, but I'm rooted in stark reality, not some outer space, time-warped fantasy. And talk about mumbo-jumbo confusion that makes no sense to me at all, these films have more than their fair share of that crap. No wonder our students are so far behind in math and science; they're being bombarded with fantasy and little green men who don't exist, except in the minds of the fools who think this crap up and actually find an audience that is actually interested in hearing it. Then, we ignore true health care reform, saying we can't afford it, and yet NASA can continually shoot garbage up into outer space, costing us billions and billions of dollars. Talk about a fantasy world.

You people need a life Star Trek is a good SI FI action movie to enjoy just like any other SI FI movie story lines change I liked the new stars and action effects it added a new twist to old worn out Trek ... Thumbs Up!
