1. 'Where the Wild Things Are' Trailer

The first trailer for Spike Jonze's four-years-in-the-making adaptation of Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book is finally here -- and it was worth the wait. With Arcade Fire's 'Wake Up' providing the perfect musical backdrop, the clip of live-action creatures in the midst of their "wild rumpus" packs enough emotional punch to make any grown man long for his Wild-Thing-costume-wearing youth.

Ghostbusters
2. Original 'Ghostbusters' to Ride Again

Two decades after they last graced the big screen in a sequel that most choose to forget existed, Peter Venkman and co. are reuniting to bust the crap out of some slimy ghouls. Harold Ramis, aka the once and future Egon Spangler, has confirmed that he, Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray will strap on their proton packs once again to play the "sage mentors" to a fresh crop of paranormal butt-kickers in 'Ghostbusters 3.' Apparently they still ain't afraid of no ghosts.

3. 'Bruno' Red-Band Trailer

Vaaas up?! The red-band international trailer for 'Bruno,' featuring Sacha Baron Cohen as the titular gay Austrian fashion model/reporter, has hit the Interwebs -- and it looks like it just might be more offensive AND hilarious than 'Borat.' Take a peek (preferably when you're not at work -- it's racy) and you'll have no problem seeing why the first cut of the flick was recently slapped with an NC-17 rating.

Lord of the Rings
4. 'The Hobbit' to Be a Trilogy?!

In what turned out to be a clever April Fool's ruse, TheOneRing.net had us convinced that Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Toro were planning to triple fans' pleasure by spreading the 'Lord of the Rings' prequel over three movies rather than the initially planned two. Sadly, it is not to be. And we were already digging the tagline: "Three films to rule them all." Oh well ...

5. 'Star Trek' Gets a Preemptive Sequel

J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek' reboot doesn't hit theaters until May 8, but Paramount is so sure it'll be a hit that the studio has already greenlit a sequel. With positive buzz surrounding the film, it sounds like a smart move -- so long as the initial flick doesn't incite the Khan-like wrath of Trekkies, of course.

6. 'Adventureland' Hits Theaters

Greg Mottola's follow-up to last summer's raunchy hit 'Superbad' isn't a 1987-set version of that film (sorry, McLovin fans). Instead, it's a funny, sad, nostalgic look back at that transformative summer between college and real life, as seen through the eyes of an uptight grad (the excellent Jesse Eisenberg) who finds meaning and love in the unlikeliest of places: working as a carnie in Pennsylvania.

7. Barrymore & Long Reunite ... for a Movie

Justin Long and Drew Barrymore are falling in love again -- on the big screen, at least. Fueling rumors that they're once again an item, the former lovers are set to play, well, current lovers involved in a long-distance relationship in the romantic comedy 'Going the Distance.'

8. 'Slumdog Millionaire' on DVD

This year's Best Picture Oscar winner hits DVD this week, and it's loaded with tons of special features -- provided you don't get one of the faulty copies that completely lacks special features (seriously, there are thousands of them out there). Regardless, 'Slumdog' is the feel-good movie of last year and it won a boatload of awards -- so who are you to NOT check it out on DVD?

9. Rhys Ifans Joins 'Deathly Hallows'

The goofy Welshman who somehow, inexplicably, against all odds dated Sienna Miller for a year will play a wizard (reportedly Luna's wacky-as-her-crazy-self dad, Xenophilius Lovegood) in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.' That's spot-on casting if you ask us. And as an added bonus: the odds are good he'll wear his "Fancy a F***?" T-shirt from 'Notting Hill' in the film -- under his wizardly robes, of course.

Alec Baldwin
10. The Gen Art Film Festival

Gen Art, which kicked off this Wednesday in New York with the premiere of Alec Baldwin's 'Lymelife,' ignores the traditional festival format (huge lineups, overlapping screenings, wildly varying venues) and instead pairs seven red carpet premieres with seven open-bar after parties over the course of seven nights -- all for 40 bucks a ticket. Is it the future of film fests? We certainly hope so.
