Lame because: We just want our Hobbit movie already! Oh, and we only want it directed by Jackson. Both the studio and the filmmaker know this, so it hurts fans to think the legal battles are being fought without thinking of their needs. And in the business of geek movies, New Line and Jackson have to know that the fanboy needs must be met. Nonetheless, both parties lashed out at each other, then things calmed down, then we got some sad news, big directors chimed in or wanted in, and eventually things got "healthier". But all of that was so confusing it made our heads spin, and we still don't know what the outcome will be!How to turn it around: Settle the matter. Quick! Fans might not follow a replacement director into the Shire, but some might not even want it with Jackson by the time the battle is cleared up and the movie moves forward. To quote Susan Powter, "Stop the insanity!" before it gets any more annoying.
