Director Chris Smith may be best-known for his classic documentary of movie-making madness, American Movie, which introduced the world to Mark Borchardt's horror opus Coven. This year, Smith returns to Sundance with The Pool -- an ambitious project adapting an American short story while transplanting it to India and performing it in Hindi with a cast of non-actor actors as the two male leads. Oh, and Smith doesn't speak Hindi, either.
