
Director Chris Smith may be best-known for his classic documentary of movie-making madness, American Movie, which introduced the world to Mark Borchardt's horror opus Coven. This year, Smith returns to Sundance with The Pool -- an ambitious project adapting an American short story while transplanting it to India and performing it in Hindi with a cast of non-actor actors as the two male leads. Oh, and Smith doesn't speak Hindi, either. Cinematical had the chance to speak with Smith at the Eccles theater about his film and it's challenges after a public screening; the audio interview can be downloaded right here.
