Aside from Adam Shankman diving in to direct Cheaper By the Dozen 2, it doesn't seem to happen all that much. "Part 3s" are usually reserved for newcomers who've cut their teeth on music videos -- or an FX / production design / cinematography guy who just earned a fair promotion.
