Normally the choosing of a director for a new Halloween sequel isn't all that fascinating (my apologies to Steve Miner and Rick Rosenthal), but Fangoria has something decidedly interesting to add to the conversation. Widely-accepted rumors indicate that the ninth Halloween movie could be directed by ... Rob Zombie?

Frankly I don't know what to make of this news. While I admire Rob Z. for dishing out his own particular style of old-school grindhouse horror ... I really am not even remotely a fan of his House of 1000 Corpses or The Devil's Rejects. And while I certainly wouldn't make any comments on how RZ might save/ruin the franchise, I do think it's a potentially unique approach for Dimension to take, especially on such a generally stagnant horror series like Halloween. (I'm of the opinion that the only decent Halloween sequel was the first one.)
